Khruschevka studio
Location: Vilnius, Lithuania
Year: 2022
Type: Personal project
Program: Studio interior
The goal of this project was to renovate a living room in an old soviet era apartment to turn it into a studio for work and leisure.
Preserved authentic industrial concrete floor acts as the main focal point of the interior. Like a painting, the concrete surface is framed by white walls on all four sides. The studio is dominated by white surfaces and furniture which allows a maximum amount of natural sunlight to enter the space visually enlarging an otherwise small room.
The floor plan is divided into two sections. On one side a multipurpose bookshelf is placed to be used for office work, and on the opposite side, an architectural model display stand is situated for storage and modeling supplies. The desk at the center of the studio has two-way access creating an ability to work on either side.
